The vineyards.
29 hectares on the Collina di Agello.
Two estates, three crus, one hillside.
Two estates.
One hillside.
Since 1967.
Ca’ di Sopra’s vineyards are located entirely on the Collina di Agello, along the right bank of the Marzeno stream. Podere Ca’ di Sopra — the original estate, since 1967 — and Podere Ca’ del Rosso — acquired in 1989 — occupy different slopes of the same hillside, with exposures and altitudes that vary significantly from vineyard to vineyard.
Blue and red clays, limestone, the temperature variation between altitude and valley floor — these are the elements that define the character of the wines. Not a single imprint, but a family of expressions that tell the story of the same hillside from different perspectives.
From 2000, the vineyard has been progressively renewed: older plantings replaced with modern densities, 5,000 vines per hectare, investing in Sangiovese as the territory’s lead variety.
The historic core of the estate, on the upper part of the Collina di Agello. Home to the Sangiovese, Albana, Pinot Bianco and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, as well as the estate cellar. The vines extend between 150 and 240 metres, with exposures that range from north-east to north-west on the Montale hill.
Acquired in 1989 as a natural extension of the original estate, Podere Ca’ del Rosso is situated on the opposite slope of the Collina di Agello, at lower altitudes. Home to the Sangiovese, Merlot, Trebbiano and Pinot Bianco vineyards, with Vigna Ca’ del Rosso — planted in 1989 — as the reference cru.
Vines planted in 1989, north-facing between 120 and 180 metres. The roots descend deep into the blue and red clays — over thirty years of history in this vineyard. 90-day maceration, tonneau, cement, 18 months in bottle. Ca’ di Sopra’s most long-lived Riserva.
An isolated hilltop between 200 and 240 metres, with exposures ranging from north-east to north-west depending on the slope. The highest vineyard on the estate — planted in 2001, blue clays, marked day-night temperature variation. A vertical Sangiovese, with tension and precision that only altitude can deliver.
The Merlot vineyard of Podere Ca’ del Rosso — west-facing, on red clays. The source of the Merlot that goes into the Remel blend and, in purity, becomes Roncodipacì. A vineyard that brings softness and roundness, complementary to the tension of the Sangiovese from Montale.
